Our Mission, Objectives, and Values

About Us

Over the last decades, there has been a growing interest in shifting audiologic rehabilitation services into a biopsychosocial framework to enhance health as defined by the World Health Organization "Health is a state of complete, interwind physical, mental, and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease (e.g., ear diseases) or infirmity (e.g., hearing, balance, movement disability)." By incorporating a biopsychosocial framework and acknowledging the inherent abilities and competencies of individuals, audiologic rehabilitation services can be better tailored to address the unique challenges faced by patients and improve their overall well-being and health outcomes. This approach takes into account the physical, psychological, and social aspects of health and empowers individuals to cope with their conditions and life's demands more effectively.

The ABILITY Research Lab is dedicated to advancing the understanding and implementation of audiologic rehabilitation within a biopsychosocial framework and contributing significantly to the evolution of audiologic rehabilitation, promoting the comprehensive well-being of individuals facing hearing challenges.

The mission of the ABILITY Research Lab is to pioneer audiologic rehabilitation services grounded in a biopsychosocial framework. We strive to enhance the overall health and well-being of individuals by recognizing and leveraging their inherent physical, mental, and social capacities.
