The Department of Political Science offers undergraduate and graduate degrees that help students develop into well-rounded, effective, and successful members of the global community.  At the undergraduate level, the Department offers three majors:

Political Science (BA) is a vast academic discipline that analyzes the world of politics and government and helps students become informed and engaged citizens of the United States and the world.  It is also excellent preparation for a variety of career paths in government, law, the non-profit sector, and business. Outstanding majors have the opportunity to enter the department’s accelerated BA/MPA program.

Public Administration (BA) prepares students to serve others in both public and non-profit institutions.  It helps develop the skills needed to assume major leadership roles in delivering the services provided by local, state, and national governments, community service groups, and non-profit organizations.  Outstanding majors also have the opportunity to enter the accelerated BA/MPA program.

Health Services Administration (BS) is a professional degree program that prepares students to assume managerial positions in the health care sector at the national and international level. The program provides students with a strong academic foundation and real world experiences at leading health care institutions. It equips students with the management, leadership, and technology skills needed to succeed in one of the fastest growing industries in the country.

At the graduate level, the Department offers a Master of Public Administration (MPA) degree, a Master of Community Planning (MCP) degree, and a Ph.D. degree in Public Administration and Public Policy, all of which prepare students to make substantive practical and scholarly contributions to government, academia, and the non-profit sector.

Department faculty members are engaged in research that is well respected by the national and international political science, public administration, and health administration communities. They are committed teachers who have won countless college, university, and even national teaching awards.
