About Me
Charlotte Lee is an Instructor and Singing Specialist teaching applied voice and music theory aural skills to Music Theory majors. She is nearing the completion of a Doctorate of Musical Arts from the Alabama School of the Arts at the University of Mobile, where she served as the Graduate Teaching Assistant to the Director of Music Theory Studies. She holds a Master of Music from Florida State University and a Bachelor of Music from the Boston Conservatory at Berklee. While in Boston, Lee studied under David Blair McClosky, founder of the McClosky Institute of Voice™ and voice therapist to John F. Kennedy. Lee has completed Levels 1, 2, & 3 of the Jeanie LoVetri Institute for Somatic Voicework™ at Baldwin Wallace University. In addition, she has performed and taught as a Teaching Fellow with the International Performing Arts Institute in Germany.
Some of Lee’s favorite performances have included her one-woman-show “Life Lessons of Sondheim,” The Foreign Woman (The Consul), Cinderella’s Mother (Into the Woods), Portia (Cinderella), and Frasquinella (La Perichole).
Lee’s students have been accepted into the American Musical and Dramatic Arts Academy (AMDA), Boston Conservatory at Berklee, Belmont University, Royal Academy of Speech and Drama in London, Loyola University (New Orleans), University of Alabama, Auburn University, and the Alabama School of the Arts.
She is a member of National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) and a founding member of the Alabama Chapter of The Voice Foundation. Professor Lee has been recommended by area Speech and Language Pathologists as a vocal pedagogue for professional voice users following vocal therapy.
