Shelby is an instructor in the Department of Political Science. Prior to joining the Auburn team in the fall of 2019, she completed her B.A in political science and German at Mercer University and her M.A in political science at the University of Georgia. She will soon complete her Ph.D. in political science from the University of Georgia. Her work focuses primarily on human rights, international organizations, and political violence, with particular attention paid to the practice of “naming and shaming”. Shelby’s time teaching has allowed her to hone her pedagogical practices in the classroom, while finding a balance between theoretical and practical application of political science concepts. She has previously collaborated with Auburn First and Auburn Online to craft more inclusive and diverse online experiences, while teaching several classes ranging from global politics to political science research methods.
