The Department of Philosophy at Auburn University pursues the study of philosophy both historically and analytically, exposing students to the great philosophers and philosophies of the past and of the present.
The Department teaches high standards of reading and writing and conversation. It expects students to become adept at criticizing the views of others and their own views.
Relevant lessons are taught in the classroom, in informal discussion, in colloquia, and in the Philosophy Club. The Department sees its faculty and students as philosophers working together to become better philosophers.
