Wilson elected as Southern Regional Director on ACDA Board of Directors

Adrienne Wilson

Adrienne Wilson, associate professor of theatre and dance, was recently elected as the South Regional Director on the American College Dance Association Board of Directors. Her term will extend from July 1, 2022 to June 30, 2025.

The American College Dance Association, or ACDA, supports the talent and creativity found in college and university dance departments. ACDA provides opportunities through conferences and festivals for dance faculty, students and guest artists to perform outside academic settings, present research and receive feedback. ACDA events strive to educate and inspire participants and strengthen the future of dance in the US.

Wilson teaches dance courses based in modern/contemporary technique, rhythm tap and movement analysis by conceptually blending in elements of dance history, composition, improvisation, anatomy and kinesiology. She also choreographs and directs the annual student dance concert, coaches movement for actors, choreographs for theatre productions, and teaches music theory fundamentals and piano skills for the music theatre performance major. Wilson, who created the dance minor, advises and mentors students involved in dance.

In addition to her work in dance and theatre, Wilson works professionally as a musician and serves as a collaborative pianist for the Department of Music. She is also an affiliate of the Women's and Gender Studies Program.

She earned an MFA in choreography and performance from SUNY Brockport, studied music and movement at Boston University, and earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in piano performance from Ithaca College.
