University advisors share their “two bits” in first podcast of its kind

Two academic advisors are hosting a new podcast on student advising

Working with advisors and partners across Auburn University’s campus, two academic advisors are hosting a new podcast on student advising. The “Two Bits” podcast is designed to educate and retain students by providing comprehensive information for listeners. This includes offering general guidance about approaching advising sessions and providing an overview of topics to start more in-depth conversations with a students’ respective college or school.

“The podcast series is designed to encourage a deeper understanding of the advising process and professional advisors’ roles on campus,” explained Jonathan Hallford, co-host of the podcast and an advisor in the College of Liberal Arts.

Hosts Hallford and Meredith Powell, an advisor in the College of Sciences and Mathematics, talk with advisors across campus to focus on topics that are pertinent to Auburn Students, such as university policies and procedures, resources available to students, issues of social justice and equity, first-generation student support, information on new majors and programs, and ensuring student success.

“While we hope students, and perhaps their parents, will utilize the podcasts to learn more about enhancing their Auburn experience, it’s important to note that the podcasts do not replace their academic advising experience,” Powell said.

The podcast series include twenty-minute downloadable podcasts that are available here:
