Auburn University Theatre and Dance presents 109th season, ‘& Dance’

Theatre and Dance graphic featuring dancer in movement

The Auburn University Department of Theatre and Dance presents its 2022-23 season, “& Dance,” a theme that celebrates the recent addition of “and Dance” to the title of the department in recognition of the incredible efforts of students, faculty and staff throughout the years to bring dance to classrooms and stages.

While dance has long been a vital, valued and visible part of the production season through annual dance concerts and musical theatre performances, the department hopes with this celebration to shine a light on the ways dance informs and infuses the work of the entire department, onstage and off.

“This moment allows us the opportunity to continue to recognize and honor the incredible work of our students. As we enter a new season, we remain committed to and focused on that work each and every day,” said Chase Bringardner, department chair and artistic director. “We hold the strong belief that our students, staff and faculty are some of the hardest working on campus and we are eager to share that work with you this year.”

The department presents an outstanding, thought-provoking season this year, including a vital, powerful contemporary play (“Detroit ’67”), a staged reading of a new satire headed to Broadway in the spring (“The Thanksgiving Play”), two vibrant musical offerings (“Pippin” and “Edges”), a classic Shakespearian comedy (“Twelfth Night”) and a celebratory dance concert (“and Dance!”) to cap it all off.
