Robert McConnell to give The Final Lecture

Robert McConnell

Sociology lecturer Robert McConnell has been selected to give The Final Lecture on April 3 at 7 p.m. in the Melton Student Center Ballroom. McConnell was elected by the student body and chosen for the honor earlier this year during spring SGA elections.

The Final Lecture is an SGA program that gives all students the opportunity to participate in a teaching award given on behalf of the student body, recognizing professors who have made extraordinary contributions to Auburn University through classroom teaching and service to the university.

McConnell has taught across a range of places and settings, including The University of Virginia, where he completed his PhD in 2010, and at Fluvanna Correctional Center for Women in a satellite program of Piedmont Virginia Community College. His major areas of interest are sociological theory, criminology, criminal justice, sociology of religion and prison sociology.
