The Auburn University Mock Trial team recently won first place in the American Mock Trial Association-sponsored Capital City Invitational hosted by the Florida State University School of Law. The competition, which was held Nov. 12-13 in Tallahassee, Florida, consisted of 20 teams who competed in two trials each day. Auburn’s 10-member team competed against top schools from across the region, including University of Georgia, Florida State University, University of South Carolina, Vanderbilt University, University of Alabama and University of Florida.

The team, led by Pre-Law Program Coordinator Debra Armstrong-Wright, practiced countless hours over the past several months to prepare for the rigors of competition.

In addition to the team’s first place award, Bailey Fortenberry won an individual award for her outstanding courtroom performance.
