Living Democracy accepting applications for Summer 2021

Living Democracy is a living-learning opportunity to engage with a small Alabama community. Students will spend 10 weeks of the summer living and working in one of four towns: Collinsville, Elba, Chatom, or Camden. Living in the community allows students to fully immerse themselves in the local culture and develop lasting relationships with those who call these towns home. Students will develop new skills, assist partners with local projects, and help strengthen the communities in which they live. Participating students will receive a $2,000 stipend and are required to take a one-hour course in Spring 2021. Interviews will be scheduled as soon as an application is received. Final deadline for applications is Sunday, November 1 at 5:00pm. If interested, please contact Dr. Mark Wilson at mwilson@auburn.edu or Hannah White at hew0029@auburn.edu. Please complete the application here.

This program is sponsored by the Caroline Marshall Draughon Center for Arts and Humanities and the David Mathews Center for Civic Life. Living Democracy students serve as Jean O’Connor Snyder Interns with the Mathews Center.
