Linden Youth Advisory Council Hosts Town's First Color Run

Participants running in Linden's Color RunThe Linden Youth Council, in partnership with Forest Hill Baptist Church, held a Color Run and Summer Splash Saturday, July 11.

The day kicked off at 8 a.m. with the Color Run. Around 40 people from Linden, Demopolis, and Sweet Water woke up early to run and walk the streets of downtown Linden.

Volunteers from the Linden Youth Council, Forest Hill Baptist, and Linden citizens threw color powder and cheered on participants as they finished the 3.1-mile course. Runners started the race with a clean, white T-shirt, but they ended the run drenched in an array of color. The race winner finished in less than 20 minutes, with everyone finishing the race in under an hour.

After cooling off from the race, the Summer Splash began. Children lined up to ride the 50-yard zip line. They also enjoyed tumbling down the water slide. Some of the Linden Youth Council members took turns slipping down the water slide and flying on the zip line.

Pastor Chad Ward of Forest Hill Baptist Church grilled hot dogs for the party. Wrapping up the day, everyone celebrated with popsicles and a classic, water balloon fight.

Ward said, “The turnout of the event was so great that it was exciting. There are so many wonderful possibilities for the town of Linden in the future. This could get bigger and bigger.”

This event could not have been made possible without help from sponsors: Forest Hill Baptist Church, Papa’s Foods, First Baptist Church of Linden, Pallet One, First Bank of Linden, and the law office of Lloyd & Dinning.
