Elba’s own Giving Garden was chosen from among hundreds nationwide to receive a 2014 Get 2gether Neighborhood Challenge grant.  The grant is funded by the Center for a New American Dream in partnership with the IOBY, http://www.ioby.org, a crowd-funding network.

Pebble Hill is the Place for Making Plans

Pebble Hill (Scott-Yarborough House) is the home of the Caroline Marshall Draughon Center for the Arts & Humanities in the College of Liberal Arts, and on Fridays it is the place for Living Democracy students to enjoy lunch and make plans for summer 2014.

Elba's warmth makes Whitten's summer special

Living democracy in Elba, Alabama, has been an amazing experience for me. There are many things I'll miss such as hanging out at the Chapman household, helping at Just Folk coffeehouse, and eating at the Rabbit Hole restaurant.

Rabbit Hole success is sign of hope in Elba
Rabbit Hole success is sign of hope in Elba

One of the most creative businesses, the Rabbit Hole, is proving to be a local favorite. Located on the historic town square, this restaurant features aesthetically pleasing décor throughout as well as stained-glass windows. A narrow hallway leads out back to a deck where customers can gather.
