The Elba Church of Christ has a great impact on the members of its community. From worship services every Sunday to providing food for those in need, this Elba church is a great place to get involved. Every Monday and Thursday, the church hosts food banks.

- Alabama Bicentennial Exhibit visits Elba

Members of the Elba and Coffee County communities are now enjoying the Alabama Bicentennial Traveling Exhibit presented by the Humanities Foundation. The exhibit made its debut in Coffee County July 2 at the National Security Conference Center in Elba. Since its opening, people of all ages have come to soak in the information and artifacts the exhibit presents.

In most cases, local businesses are the backbone of small towns. These businesses help bring people together and have a great impact on the community. One example of a local business in Elba is Lawford’s Hardware store at 333 Davis St. on the downtown square. This store is stocked with all kinds of tools, fishing gear and just about everything needed for home repairs.

Restoration 154, a nonprofit responsible for many events, programs and improvements in Elba, continues to look to the future. Special Restoration 154 projects include providing citizens a chance to kayak down the Pea River on a Saturday afternoon or enjoy an event at the Elba Theatre on the downtown square.

- Elba celebrates opening of new splash pad

Elba Mayor Mickey Murdock and so many others involved with the planning and building of the town’s new splash pad celebrated at the official opening on Tuesday, June 19. The 90-degree temperature and sunny skies made it a perfect day to dedicate a splash pad in south Alabama.
