American Heart Association
Special Internship Opportunity: 100 Years, 100 Stories

About Us: The American Heart Association is the world’s leading organization focused on heart and brain health for all. Our mission is to be a relentless force for a world of longer, healthier lives.

About the Position: The American Heart Association will celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2024. As part of this celebration, our Alabama team is launching a campaign entitled “100 Years, 100 Stories” that will feature volunteers across Alabama who have been impacted by the Association in some way (survivors, donors, caregivers, etc.). These stories will highlight the breadth and depth of the Association’s work and will be featured in various activities across the state throughout 2024.

We are seeking an intern with strong writing skills to assist in curating these stories. This person will contact sources, conduct interviews, write and edit copy, secure photograph(s), and handle any necessary approvals.

Journalism majors are encouraged to apply, but any communications majors are welcome. However, strong writing and interviewing skills are a must.

This is a non-paid position, though class credit is available. This is a remote position with flexible scheduling. The position will report to the local Director of Communications.

To apply, please submit a resume and 2-3 writing samples (with at least one of these being a feature story) to:
