About

For over a decade, Living Democracy pairs students and citizens in Alabama communities for a living-learning experience in community and civic engagement. The backgrounds, interests, majors and skills of the students are as diverse as the communities where they will reside. The upcoming journey will be an adventure in developing relationships, understanding a community's hopes and dreams, and discovering what makes democracy work as it should.

Living Democracy is a collaboration with communities and the David Mathews Center for Civic Life. Living Democracy students serve as Jean O'Connor Snyder Interns with the Mathews Center. Learn about Living Democracy on this site, and contact Dr. Mark Wilson, Director of Community Engagement in the College of Liberal Arts (mwilson@auburn.edu) or Nan Fairley, Associate Professor of Journalism (fairlln@auburn.edu). Follow us on Facebook and Twitter.
