Department of Art & Art History

Visit and Learn More

If you are a prospective student and would like to learn more about the Department of Art & Art History at Auburn University, we encourage you to participate in our Art Shadowing Program. It offers a unique opportunity for you to shadow an Art Ambassador (an advanced art student) and discover what it is like to be an art major at Auburn University. Participation in this program allows you to sit-in on art classes with your Art Ambassador, and depending on whether you are here for one hour, half a day or a full day, to go to lunch, meet other art students, visit Biggin Gallery and to learn first hand about all that Auburn has to offer an art student.

For more information, contact the Department of Art and Art History at or call 334.844.4373.

What Our Recent Graduates Say:

The facilities and teachers at Auburn opened many new possibilities and opportunities for my creative experience."

Nick Norman

The environment in the art department challenges my creative talent while providing resources and faculty support that went beyond my expectations."

Kara Field

I have learned that creativity is not about having a lot of money to buy art supplies but instead it is about thinking in a new way about what you have."

It's a blessing that the art department gives you the opportunity to learn about something you love."

Laura Jett

It's amazing to watch how my friends and I have grown creatively from semester to semester. I hate when people say that you don't need to go to art school. You learn so much theory and technique in Auburn's art program, you would do yourself a disservice by not going."

Katie Gonzalez

The relationships you develop in the art department are so supportive. The department provides a safe but challenging place for creative thinking and personal growth."
