Carol Sue Nelson
Carol Sue Nelson, a native of Opelika, Alabama, graduated summa cum laude from Auburn University. She received her J.D. degree from Cumberland School of Law, graduating magna cum laude. After graduation, Ms. Nelson clerked for the Honorable James H. Hancock, United States District Judge.
Ms. Nelson, a shareholder in the firm of Maynard, Cooper & Gale, PC, concentrates her practice in representing management in labor and employment matters. She has been recognized as one of the Best Lawyers in America, one of Chambers USA Leading Lawyers for Business, and one of the top 25 women attorneys in Alabama. Nelson is a Fellow in the Litigation Counsel of America, a member of the Alabama Law Institute, and serves on the Alabama Supreme Court Standing Committee on Rules of Conduct and Canons of Judicial Ethics.
Nelson serves on the Alabama Women’s Commission and the Dean’s Advisory Councils for Cumberland Law School and Auburn University’s College of Liberal Arts. She is a member of The Women’s Network, and is active in the Drive Out Breast Cancer program and The Voices Against Violence campaign. In 2007, she was selected as one of the Top Birmingham Women by the Birmingham Business Journal.
