Meet the Women’s Leadership Institute

Auburn Women's Leadership Institute is for everyone!

Did you know that women's leadership has been present on Auburn's campus for a remarkable 15 years? It's a fact! Over this period, various focal points have shaped the WLI initiative. After the challenges posed by the post-covid landscape, the reins of Leadership Program Director were assumed by Julia Wiard. Recognizing a crucial gap in WLI's scope - the student perspective - she embarked on a journey to recalibrate the program. This evolution led to a renewed emphasis on catering to the needs of the student community, extending opportunities beyond the classroom. WLI's redesigned mission now revolves around nurturing leadership through mentorship, collaboration, and impactful experiences.

An integral part to the Women’s Leadership Institute is the Student Advisory Board. The board was born out of the need for a space on campus where women with a different majors, experiences, and backgrounds can come together to discuss areas of strength, weakness, and improvement of leadership opportunities for women. It actively serves to establish relationships among board members and with other women on campus.

Developing leaders is our core mission, guiding individuals towards their full potential through skill-building, self-awareness, and collaboration. Through mentorship, we aim to cultivate meaningful relationships that bridge knowledge gaps, provide guidance, and inspire personal and professional growth. By fostering collaboration among Auburn women, we create a dynamic community that harnesses diverse strengths to tackle challenges, spark innovation, and uplift one another. Our aim is to promote leadership across Auburn's campus, fostering a culture where every voice is empowered to lead, inspire, and drive positive change.

List of WLI 2023-2024 Student Advisory Board

The Women's Leadership Institute Student Advisory Board is comprised of undergraduate women who will serve to support and promote the Women's Leadership Institute. The students selected serve a year-long term (September-August) and attend monthly board and committee meetings and select WLI events during the academic year.

The WLI Student Advisory Board originated from a need on campus for a space where women from various majors, experiences, and backgrounds could unite. This space facilitates discussions about strengths, weaknesses, and enhancing leadership opportunities for women. Additionally, it actively fosters relationships among board members and other women on campus.

Congrats to our 2023-2024 board!
