T.I.G.E.R. Camp

Teaching Imagery for Greater Enhancement of Reading

Dates : June 3-July 19th (Break for July 1st-5th)

Time: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday  8:30-11:00am

Drop-off: from 8:20-8:30 at Centennial Gardens loop behind Samford Hall

Location: Auburn University - Langdon Hall

Cost: $450.00 for 6-week camp, including snack and materials

T.I.G.E.R. Camp is designed to promote pre-literacy skills for rising Kindergarten children. Trained and certified Speech-Language Pathology faculty members will work with students to provide group and individual therapy three days a week during this 6-week camp. 

The camp is based on the following principles of instruction:

  • Development of symbol imagery to visualize sounds and letters in words to facilitate word attack skills and phonemic awareness
  • Group interactivity to engage children and create a conducive learning environment
  • Using children’s knowledge and experience to build meaningful lessons<
  • Hands-on experiences and authentic social contexts

Individual assessments will be completed at the beginning and conclusion of the camp.
