My Auburn Story with Jessica Brookshire Spade, '09, '11
Published on Sep 02, 2016
Five years ago, we featured Jessica Brookshire (now Spade) in an alumni spotlight. Through her community service project, K.A.R.M.A. (Kids Against Ridicule, Meanness, and Aggression), she turned her wounds into wisdom and shared her experiences as a bullied child who went on to become successful within the Miss America organization. Spade, who graduated from Auburn in 2009 with a bachelor's degree in international trade and Spanish, and again with a master's degree in Hispanic studies in 2011, is now a newlywed and an associate attorney with the Birmingham firm Ferguson, Frost, Moore & Young, LLP. We decided to catch up with her and reflect upon her experiences. Here is Spade's "My Auburn Story."
