Three Guest Artists to Visit Auburn University
The Department of Music is pleased to host three guest artists in the next week at Auburn University. All concerts are in Goodwin Music Building’s Recital Hall (Room 125) and are open to the public with admission fees. Due to the different organizations co-hosting these events, ticketing information has been listed in detail below.
On Wednesday, March 23, Ensemble Schumann will perform a recital at 7:30. Fanfare Magazine praised this trio’s recent CD of Romantic trios as “exquisite.” In Auburn, their program will include Mozart’s delightful Kegelstatt Trio, a passionate trio by Schumann, and selections from Max Bruch’s ultra-Romantic “Eight Pieces.” Co-hosted by the Auburn Chamber Music Society, tickets will be sold for $25 general admission and $10 for students beginning at 6:30 pm. Cash or check only.
On Thursday, March 24, we welcome guest trumpeter Robert White and accompanist Helen Lukan for a recital at 7:30 pm. White and Lukan are from Western Michigan University. Their program will include repertoire by Joseph Turrin, George Antheil, and Robert Suderberg. Tickets may be purchased online at www.auburn.edu/music/tickets until Thursday at noon for $10 (no student discounts). Regular tickets will be sold at the door at 6:30 pm for $10 general admission and $5 students and children. Cash or check only.
The Auburn Guitar Society will co-host a recital on Tuesday, March 29 at 7:30 pm featuring guitarist Silviu Octavian Ciulei. Originally from Romania, Ciulei performs internationally as both a classical and flamenco guitarist. Program repertoire includes classical works composed by Erik Satie, Claude Debussy, Django Reinhardt, Vicente Asencio, and Joaquin Rodrigo, as well as self-composed flamenco guitar pieces. Auburn Guitar Society will sell $10 general admission and $5 student and children tickets at the door beginning at 6:30 pm. Cash or check only.
