David Odom and Laurelie Gheesling Perform "Fantasy" Program

The Department of Music faculty members David Odom, clarinet, and Laurelie Gheesling, piano, perform on Monday, September 14, at 7:30 pm in Goodwin Recital Hall.

Clarinetist David Odom has a thriving career as soloist, chamber artist, orchestral musician and educator. He has performed on four continents to critical acclaim and has been featured on television and radio, including WABE, Atlanta’s NPR station, and TV Itararé (TV Cultura), Brazilian public television. He is Principal Clarinet of the Atlanta Opera Orchestra and the Columbus Symphony Orchestra, and also performs as a substitute musician with other respected orchestras. He can be heard on recordings with the Nashville Chamber Orchestra and the Atlanta Opera Orchestra. His debut recording for Albany Records will be released in 2016. 

Laurelie Gheesling, pianist, is Coordinator of Collaborative Keyboard and Alexander Technique specialist in the Department of Music at Auburn. She previously served as accompanist in the vocal, instrumental, and choral areas in the School of Music at Louisiana State University. In addition, she was the musical director and pianist for the LSU Opera Outreach Program (LOOP), which performed for area schools and other community venues in Baton Rouge. She was also the accompanist for the Baton Rouge Symphony Chorus for 15 years.

Advanced tickets can be purchased for $10 by visiting auburn.edu/music/tickets.  Students, faculty, and guests are also encouraged to purchase tickets beginning at 6:30 pm in Goodwin Hall. Tickets are $5 for students with a valid student ID, and only one ticket may be purchased per student. For general admission (including university faculty and staff), tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children; children younger than age six are admitted free of charge. The doors will open at 7:00 pm. Come early to be sure to get your ticket; the department anticipates selling all 220 available seats in the recital hall.
