Auburn University Community Orchestra Auditions
Auditions for the Auburn University/Community Orchestra’s 2016-2017 season will be held on Tuesday, August 16 and Wednesday, August 17. Auditions are open to all university students and community members. These auditions will be held from 3:00-6:00 pm in Goodwin Room 128. No appointment is necessary. Alternatively, auditions may be arranged by contacting Music Director Howard Goldstein at 334-844-3167 or firstname.lastname@example.org. Updated audition repertoire can be found on this page: http://www.cla.auburn.edu/music/prospective-students/ensembles/orchestra/.
Auditions will consist of the following:
- A solo of the candidate’s own choosing, such as the first movement of a standard concerto or sonata, or any piece that demonstrates both technical and lyrical abilities.
- Orchestral excerpts (available in PDF format on the orchestra page listed above.)
If material on a page is bracketed, play only that material; otherwise, play the entire page. If you are not familiar with these excerpts, please listen to recordings of them so that you will be aware of proper tempi, style, etc. If you play an auxiliary wind instrument (English horn, bass clarinet, contrabassoon, etc.) and would like to audition on that instrument as well, contact Dr. Goldstein at email@example.com for appropriate excerpts.
