Heather Killmeyer enjoys a varied career as a recitalist, chamber and orchestral musician, and educator. She currently serves as Assistant Professor of Double Reeds at East Tennessee State University. She previously was on the faculty at the University of the Incarnate Word and maintained a large private studio in San Antonio, Texas.
Heather Killmeyer earned her Doctor of Musical Arts from the University of Southern California, where she studied oboe with Allan Vogel and chamber music with David Weiss and Yehuda Gilad. She completed her Master of Music with Stephen Caplan at the University of Nevada Las Vegas. She earned her Bachelor of Music from the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music as a student of Mark Ostoich, and was a recipient of the Marcel Dandois Award. She has had additional studies with Jared Hauser and Brenda Schuman-Post on oboe and Sharon Kuster on bassoon.
- Auburn University Opera Workshop will present "50 Shades of Opera".
Auburn University Opera Workshop will present "50 Shades of Opera", a program of excerpts from well known operas and operettas of the 19th and 20th century. The approximately 90 minute performance will include short portions of renowned works such as Lakmé by Delibes,Mikado by Gilbert and Sullivan, Porgy and Bess by Gershwin, Susannah by Floyd and Elixir of Love by Donizetti, among others. Performances are April 5, 6 and 7 at 7:30 pm, and Sunday, April 8 at 3:00 pm. in Goodwin Recital Hall. Tickets may be purchased online or at the door.
- Pianist in Residence
Brazilian pianist Ingrid Barancoski will present a variety of events at the Music Department during her residency. Monday October 30: Piano Masterclass 2:00-4:00 pm, Recital Hall. Tuesday October 31: Piano Recital 7:30 pm, Recital Hall. Wednesday November 1: Lecture entitled “Brazilian Music Beyond Villa-Lobos,” 2:00 pm, Location TBA. Dr. Barancoski is a faculty member of the Villa-Lobos Institute and the Graduate Music Program at UNIRIO (Federal University of the State of Rio de Janeiro).

Voice student, Natalie Wagnon, participated in a summer opera program, Lingua e Canto in Sant’Angelo in Vado, Italy. Congratulations to Natalie on this big accomplishment!
- Auditions for Fall 2017 AU Choirs
Auditions for participation in the Fall 2017 Auburn University Chamber Choir, Gospel Choir, Conductors’ Chorus, Women's Chorus and Men's Chorus occur April 10-14 for current AU students in 114 Goodwin Hall. Incoming students and current students will also have the opportunity to audition during Camp War Eagle sessions, and on August 16-18.
- Auburn University Community Orchestra Auditions
Auditions for the Auburn University/Community Orchestra’s 2016-2017 season will be held on Tuesday, August 16 and Wednesday, August 17. Auditions are open to all university students and community members. These auditions will be held from 3:00-6:00 pm in Goodwin Room 128. No appointment is necessary.
- Faculty Jazz, Symphonic Winds, Orchestra, Low Brass Ensembles to Perform
All are invited to this week’s concerts, including a midday, free concert by the Symphonic Winds in preparation for their ten day tour of Italy.

- Auditions for Fall Choirs
Auditions for participation in the Fall 2016 Auburn University Chamber Choir, Gospel Choir, Conductors’ Chorus, Women's Chorus and Men's Chorus occur during most of the 2016 Camp War Eagle sessions, AND on August 12-17, 2016. Choirs are open to all entering, new, and current Auburn University undergraduate and graduate students, regardless of major or minor.

Approximately 100 Auburn students, faculty, and other personnel begin their nine day, five city tour on Friday, March 11.

A native of Bogota, Columbia, Leyvar will work with Auburn students through private lessons, masterclasses, and a lecture entitled “Cenesthetic Relaxation in Musical Technique: Biomechanics and Alternatives.”
