Sara Lynn Baird, Professor, joined the Auburn faculty as Department Chair in July 2009 and served in that role through December 2016. Prior to her appointment at Auburn, Baird served as Stephanie Landry Barineau Professor of Choral Studies at Louisiana State University where she was appointed Interim Dean of the College of Music and Dramatic Arts after serving as Associate Dean in the College and Director of Graduate Studies in the School of Music.  There, she founded and conducted the LSU Schola Cantorum, a mixed choir, and the LSU Select Women’s Ensemble and taught graduate and undergraduate Choral Conducting, Choral Literature, and Choral Methods.

The LSU Select Women's Ensemble was selected to perform at the Southern Division Convention of ACDA in 2002 in Charlotte, NC. Schola Cantorum recorded choral compositions by Dinos Constantinides on a commercially released CD in 2007 on the Centaur label with the Louisiana Sinfonietta. From 2000-2003 she served as Artistic Director and Conductor of the Louisiana Vocal Arts Chorale in New Orleans. In 2003 she was awarded the Tiger Athletic Foundation Teaching Award for the School of Music at LSU.  Baird has published an article in and contributed numerous choral reviews to the Choral Journal and coauthored an article published in the Southeastern Journal of Music Education. She has conducted high school and collegiate Honor Choirs in Louisiana, Mississippi, Kentucky, Tennessee, West Virginia, and Florida has served as clinician for choral festivals and conferences in Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Florida.

Currently a member of ACDA, NAfME, Pi Kappa Lambda, and CMS, Baird previously taught choral music at the high school level in Florida in Brevard and Hillsborough counties. Baird served as President for Southern Division ACDA and on the National ACDA Board from 2005-2007. She continues to serve ACDA in a variety of roles.
