April in Auburn
April in Auburn (AiA) brings together MTPC students, rhetoric and composition graduate students, members of local Society for Technical Communication chapters (Birmingham, Huntsville, and Atlanta), alumni, and faculty to expand their professional knowledge and discuss issues affecting our field.
This year’s event featured:
- Keynote speaker Dr. Carlos Evia
- Poster presentations, and
- A tour of the Laboratory for Usability, Communication, Interaction, and Accessibility (LUCIA).
AiA was proud to have Virginia Tech's Dr. Carlos Evia, known for his work in cross-cultural technical communication, as this year’s keynote speaker. His research is especially relevant in light of technical communication’s changing role in an increasingly globalized economy. For more information on Dr. Evia, see:
- Poster presentations were open to Auburn students and our honored guests from Kennesaw State University and Southern Polytechnic State University.
The LUCIA tour featured demonstrations of Perception Analyzer (continuous feedback software for focus group and other research; EyeGuide (eye-tracking software for usability and other research); and Morae (usability-testing software).
