Matthew Teutsch's New Contribution to the African American Intellectual History Society's Blog

We are happy to announce Matthew Teutsch's new contribution to the African American Intellectual History Society's blog entitled "The Black Intellectual Tradition and Hip Hop." Through an exploration of songs by Hip Hop artists such as Sho Baraka, Propaganda, and Brother Ali, Teutsch examines the ways that these artists exemplify one crucial aspect of the Black intellectual tradition–a denunciation of racism and historical and contemporary injustice. He accomplishes this by looking at the contemporary artists in relation to colonial and antebellum authors and activists such as Olaudah Equiano and David Walker. Matthew Teutsch is an instructor in the Department of English.  Congratulations, Matt!‚Äč
