General information from the Office of the Registrar on how waitlists in Banner work.

Waiting Lists for classes offered by the College of Liberal Arts by department or school name

Departmental Contact: Amanda Wiles, afd0003@auburn.edu, 108 Biggin Hall

Departmental Class Wait List Process

Once a class is full, students are permitted to sign the wait list in 108 Biggin Hall, and must include their e-mail, class standing and major. If a seat opens in a course with a wait list, the first person on the list is added to the class if there are no time conflicts or other scheduling issues. If the student has a time conflict or hold, the student is sent an email giving a certain amount of time to respond. If the student does not respond by the given time, the next person on the list is added or contacted. Students should not attend class the first day and ask professors to add them to the class.

students who would like to add the class.

As a result, students may attend class the first day, but should not ask the professor to be added. Rather, they should follow the process above.

Students meeting all psychology pre-requisites for a specific psychology course may add themselves to the automated waitlist using the Tigeri system until the day before the semester begins. Students who are psychology minors, or from another department, who wish to be added to the waitlist for a psychology course must come to the Psychology main office to be added manually to the waitlist by the psychology staff.

Before the semester begins, students will receive an automated email if a seat becomes available for a course and the student is the next person on the waitlist. Students have 24 hours to accept the seat using the Tigeri system. If this is not done within the 24 hours after receiving the automated email, the student is removed from the wait list by the Tigeri system. The wait list remains active until the day before the first day of classes for each semester. On the first day of classes, students will not be allowed to add themselves to the waitlist for a course.

At the beginning of a semester, faculty members are provided a list of students on the waitlist. It is recommend that students on the waitlist attend the class and inform the course instructor that they would like to be added to the course. Pending available seats, students will be added to the course based on their position on the waitlist after attending the first class. Additionally, students not on the waitlist but wish to be added to a psychology course may attend the first day of class and meet with the professor at the end of the class to determine their eligibility to be added to the course. At that time, students will be instructed on the process for registering for the course pending permission from each course instructor.
