TUESDAY, March 18

CONSUMPTION

EVENT: Swap Table on the Concourse: One person's trash is another person's treasure; trade your tired thread, your worn books, your old DVDs/CDs for new ones without spending a penny. Drop donations off in Tichenor 336, 12:30pm - 3:00pm, March 3-6.

EVENT: EarthFare Table on the concourse. Stop by for giveaways and to see what the store has to offer!

TOUR: Sustainable Campus-Waste Reduction & Recycling • 10:15 - 10:45 am • Led by Donny Addison (starts from the Waste Reduction & Recylcing Dept's table on the Haley Center Concourse, includes visit to the Big Belly Solar Compactors, the Student Center cabinet bins, and the Student Center loading dock). Join the Waste Reduction and Recycling Department to get a behind the scenes look at trash and recycling on campus The tour will stay at the Student Center and last approximately 30 minutes. Take a short time out of your day to find out where your waste ends up and the impact of your actions!

  • Buy used - not new! Go shopping at one of the local thrift stores.
  • Get a group of friends together and have a clothing swap. Trade items that you don't wear anymore and get new looks for free!
  • Consider making your own body or cleaning products!

TOUR:   A water tour will meet at the Arboretum Pavilion at 1:00pm.

FRIDAY, March 21

ENERGY

EVENT: Table on the Concourse from 10am-2pm. 

TOUR: Sustainable Energy Tour, 10am - 10:45am, led by Ray Kirby and Ken Martin of Facilities. Departs from table on Haley Concourse at 10:00 am. This tour includes a visit to the new solar panels and electric cars in the stadium parking deck, and to a nearby Cooling Station, to see innovations in our energy systems on campus.

Conserve energy - turn off your electronics (computer monitor, printer, scanner, etc.) when you leave work today.

  • Turn the lights off every time you leave a room. Also, unplug things like lamps, coffee makers, etc. when they aren't in use.

GIVING BACK

EVENT: SGA's The Big Event

Community and Civic Engagement Big Event Project:  Community and Civic Engagement students in the College of Liberal Arts invite you to participate in SGA’s Big Event project by helping to build benches at the Lee County Historical Society’s Pioneer Park in Loachapoka. Please contact Kaleb Kirkpatrick for instructions on how to register for The Big Event. LCHS will provide lunch.

EVENT: A Day of Rest.  Enjoy a day of rest by visiting Kiesel Park or the Arboretum on campus.

  • Limit your impact on the environment and the world around you - by doing nothing, you are doing something!
